Too stupid to be selfish

People who pursue corrupt self-interest are often too stupid not to self-sabotage instead. Unfortunately, they often take the rest of us with them.

Example 1

A company owner knowingly pollutes her town to avoid the extra cost of clean production. This poisons her own property and family.

Example 2

A citizen supports a politician who promises to take rights from people he doesn't like. His own rights are taken by the politician he supported.
